From the start, we designed the new v0.3 connectors to be backwards-compatible with existing v0.2 bitSnaps.
There are a few differences between the models:
- The new v0.3 bitSnaps have small feet on the underside of the boards.
- Our v0.2 bitSnap connectors were made with a lot of variability: this means that some sets of modules will work well together, and others won't.
In general, you'll probably have better luck with using v0.3 modules "upstream," i.e. using a v0.3 power with a v0.2 output. In our testing, going the other way (like using a v0.2 power module with a v0.3 input or output module) doesn't work quite as well.
If you're having trouble, you can try jiggling the connector to improve the connection; this can work surprisingly well.
If you just can't get your new and old modules to work together, please get in touch with us by submitting a new request. We would be happy to swap out any v0.2 module that is not working with your new v0.3 modules. Please have your purchase info handy so we can help you more quickly.
